Text Box: PARP! Reading is a Treat!! Dear Parents and Students, The Birch Lane PTA is very excited to be beginning our “Parents as Reading Partners” (PARP) program. This year’s theme will be “Reading is a Treat!” The kick-off date is February 1 and it will continue through February 26. The PARP program’s state wide objective is to encourage parents and children to join together and read daily for at least 15 minutes, for the entire three week period. If your child is interested in participating in PARP, please have your child complete the attached contract, and return it to the PARP box located in the front lobby of the school. As one of the major ongoing activities during the PARP program, your child will be filling in the “Treat Sheet” with the amount of minutes read for the week and return it to the PARP Cookie Jar. The grade that reads the most will receive a special reward! Extra copies of this flyer will be available at our website – www.birchlanepta.com. Feel free to visit and get more information! There will be many other fun contests and activities throughout the PARP program, so please encourage your child to join during these special upcoming weeks ahead! We will also host Family Book Day at Barnes and Noble on Wednesday, February 24th. Purchase books any time on the 24th and Birch Lane will receive credit. Please bring the voucher attached to this packet or just mention Birch Lane when you check-out so we get the credit. And remember…..Reading is a treat!
